“I'm creating a book that focuses on my weathered chrome images. During the editing process, my book team and I were struck by how the creative process and the resulting images were a visual metaphor for the impermanence of life, especially now given the global pandemic. While most of us are creatures of habit and exist with the illusion that we are in control our lives, our worlds are actually in a constant state of change and transformation on every level of existence. In our minds, this body of work illustrates it in a beautiful and magical way. It brought to mind the Buddhist doctrine of Annicca, and that our bodies and minds and universe are in a constant state of transition, deconstruction, and transformation. That led to our tilting the book, Constant Impermanence. We feel as though every aspect of this process: the decay and transformation of the slides, the eroding images reborn into abstract beauty, are truly a mirror of the constant impermanence in our lives”.
